ABOUT
The "Home within the Heart" program was developed by Dr. Yael Mayer and Dr. Yael Enav after engaging in extensive work with displaced families from the Gaza Envelope. Home within the Heart meets the unique needs of displaced families by reframing what it means to be home.
The guiding principle of the program is that the family serves as the core protective factor for children’s and parents’ health. Even when far from a physical home and in an uncertain, traumatic situation, the feeling of home can be found within the family.
Program Structure
The program’s workshops are designed for parents and children aged 3-6. Workshops consist of four experiential one-hour sessions, once a week. The experiential activities are facilitated through play, which helps strengthen communication and bonding between parents and children. Familial resilience is boosted through these sessions and both parents and children can discover and draw on each others’ newfound strength.
